Hi, I'm Simon Huebner. I was diagnosed with Asperger's at 3 years old. I graduated from Georgia State University with a bachelor's degree in Geology. Long before then, I was recommended for occupational therapy at 5 years old, speech-language therapy from ages 5-7, and psychoeducational therapy with Richard Kaplan, M.Ed, Sp.Ed, to help me navigate critical formative years so I could develop coping strategies for my Asperger's. I started self-actualizing the information surrounding ASDs and other learning disorders while I performed field work in Ohio, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. Eventually I understood I have a unique skillset and perspective based on my own trials and tribulations growing up, as a student, and pushing myself past what I thought was possible after I entered the workforce. I learned and continue to learn by observing others about the best practices to assist and advise on issues faced by students and family members for whom ASDs are a part of their daily lives. In addition to the treatments I benefited from growing up, I credit my support system with helping me get to where I am today. When I'm not teaching or mentoring at Resource Education Solutions, I enjoy movies, bicycling, reading, games of strategy, trying to teach myself new things, and comedy, an interest I recommend for anyone struggling with what to say among their peers.
